After Death What?
Deut. 30:15-20
Introduction: What is death like and what happens after it? This question has stayed with man since time memorial. God tells us not to fear as the heathen do. The Lord in His word tells us what to expect --- that we may know how to live in this world and prepare for the next. Now, let’s look at the two destinations, Heaven or Hell.
Hell – was not prepared for man Matthew 25:41 “…depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the Devil and his angels.”
History--- “sheol” paradise and Hell
Location --- Matthew 11:23 --- down
Description --- Rev. 20:10 – Lake of fire.
Who will inhabit Hell? Those that reject Christ John 8:24 “ I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins; for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”
It is a place of torment --- Luke 16:23
The desire in Hell is to warn others --- Luke 16:23
The Resurrection in Hell --- Rev. 20:12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened…” (verse 15 ) “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Heaven Rev. 21:10-11
Location --- Referred to as being up
Cannot be fully described Rev. 21:10-27 describes it to some degree
Paul saw it II. Corinth. 12:4 “How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for man to utter.”
Inhabitants
They go immediately upon death to heaven or Hell Luke 16:23 “And in Hell he lifted his eyes….”
They desire to praise God
Only one entrance --- Christ John 10:9 “I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”
What will we be like ---Jesus. I John 3:2 “… we shall be like him…”
Conclusion: What is your decision today? After death, what?
