Are you under a Juniper Tree?

I Kings 19:4-7

Introduction: Discouragement and depression is rampant this day and time. Social, physical and emotional pressures are at an all-time high --- yet don’t give up. It all seems so hopeless. Elisha had the same problem, but God brought him out of it. Let’s look at how God did that.

We need to rest in God’s presence

1. Take time to realign our values in God’s presence

2. Find quiet places and time --- we must learn this, it’s not easy.

3. Only in the quiet places do we see the sovereignty of God

   1. Wind

   2. Fire

   3. Earthquakes, etc.

4. Don’t rest and become lazy --- just rest!

We need to see others (Chrisitan fellowship)

1. Realize you and your problems are not unique (God had 7,000 other people who were true to him)

2. Get interested in others besides yourself (God sent Elijah to anoint a king)

3. Every person you take the time to know is a future source of blessing and help

Need to see the vision (purpose)

1. There is a reason for you to live and grow ---God has a plan for you

2. All Christians are to be sou l winners (those works lasat for eternity)

3. God wants you to be the best teacher, daddy, mother, etc. possible

4. We are the salt

5. We are the light

Conclusion: God is ready to lead you out from under the Juniper tree ---will you let him?
