How to Keep Glowing While You’re Growing!

Introduction: Ever had a new car, or a new something and you tried to keep it that way? I tried that for the very first new car I ever bought. But no matter how much I tried to keep it new, I got tired of it.

Christians sometimes get bored or complacent being Christians. 

Abraham, David, Paul, Billy Graham, etc. did not get bored with being with following God. But we do.

What happens to us? 

We stop growing. Why?

Why do we get that way and how can we get out of it?

We Must Be Clean    Psalm 19:12 Who can understand [his] errors? cleanse thou me from secret [faults].

1. We pick up dirt daily….and wash it off at the end of the day

2. It was so important to be clean that David prayed God would cleanse him from even the things he was not aware of that were sin in his life.

5. Its embarrassing to tell others to give up their sin—when we don’t give up ours

6. Sin must become a thing of the past (as a lifestyle)

We Must Be Unchoked Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

1. Never waste time---this is a subtle sin of Christians. We waste time running after things.

2. Satan tell us we need to relax—did you really do bad today? Just relax.

3. Many things are not sinful in themselves but lead to sin by crowding out Christ

   1. Books

   2. TV

   3. Games

4. Bad habits, bad attitudes and bad fellowship are like weeds to spiritual growth

We Must be Christ Dependent John 15:5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

1. Jesus is our power---We sing Jesus is the answer for the world today-we should really mean it.

2. Lay aside selfishness and bad attitudes

3. Cannot fight in your own power

4. Wherever you are today, either good or bad is fleeting. Life changes constantly---but Christ does not.

Conclusion: We must grow spiritually. Tell about working out in the gym for the first time. It took constant work to get better in order to lift the weights.
