Thank God for Troubles

Psalms 138:7

I knew a businessman who lost his sight due to disease. At one point he stopped praying for his sight and prayed for grace to bear his infirmity. Through this he gained a close relation to God and now allows God to guide him through his troubles. His bitterness is gone and now there is a joy.

Trouble is used by God to being us surrendered to His ambitions and plans for His purpose. God uses trouble to His glory.

There is borrowed trouble or asked for trouble Romans 3:11 " ….there is none that seeketh after God.”

1. To not seek God is to run into trouble --- the Devils snares

2. We worry about the future – Matthew 6:34

3. God promises no grace to bear anticipated trouble or worry

Created troubles 

1. Misunderstandings lead to distress --- mental and physical sickness. Ephesians 4:26 “…. Let not the sun go down upon your wrath.”

2. Disobedience to God’s commands. David numbered the children of Israel against God’s demand and David suffered for it.

3. Be a peacemaker “Blessed are the peacemakers”

Unexplained troubles I Corinth. 13:12 “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face’ now I know in part; but then shall I know as also I am known.”

1. Job did not understand his troubles but was blessed

2. We don’t understand our troubles now, because of the darkness of life but one day we will understand

Why have troubles? 

1. Christ carried the cross. He knows what it is like to have trouble, especially unjustified trouble

2. The most beautiful diamond begins as an unsightly stone.

Conclusion: God is our refuge and strength—a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1
