The Importance of Little Things

Acts 28:1-3, 5

Paul was a great apostle and a great leader. God used him to perform a miracle with the viper. Yet the thing that made it all possible was the sticks. The little sticks gathered by the mighty apostle Paul.

Sometime notice in your bible the many little things ---the gift of the widow, the water pots Jesus used for his first miracle, Moses’ rod, etc. No doubt success and failure give importance to little things.

Do the little things well automatically means a person well do the big things well

1. Some say preachers should preach to the back row--- everyone can then hear him

2. Every friendship begins with a small word, usually “Hello”

3. Do not measure a task by its size. ( I know the owner of a multi-million-dollar business and he sweeps his own office and shop floors)

4. Be willing to do the little, it prepares you to do the big. (a kind word to someone in a matter may open doors to friendship and a witness for Christ)

The little often becomes the big

1. Splitting the atom is the most powerful form of energy in the world today. Do that little job and do it well

2. If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well

3. Be nice to the boy who cuts your yard, you may need to borrow money from his bank one day.

Doing the little things helps us become Christlike

1. Jesus never pastored a church, never was president or mayor – but was the greatest man who ever lived

2. He talked of little children and took time with them. He talked about flowers, a gardener, a lost coin

3. Our heavenly Father clothes the fields with lilies and counts the hair on our head

4. Let’s gather the little sticks to start a fire for the Lord

Conclusion: You are not small, you are growing. You are not a small church, you are growing. There is no such thing as little people. All are important. There is no such things as a small task. So, let’s do it well!
