The Nature of Luke’s Gospel

Introduction: The life of Jesus is contained in the four gospels. Gospel means “good news”. Each one depicts a different characteristic of Jesus. Matthew – King, Mark --- Servant, Luke --- Man, and John --- God.

The certainty of truth Luke 1:1-4

1. The testimony records eyewitnesses and ministering of the world.

2. He confirmed the absolute certainty of these facts

3. The teaching – explains the gospel is to spread the news and truth.

The call of truth Luke 5:29-32

1. The murmuring –Pharisees questioned the eating with sinners

2. The Message –the spiritually sick need help. He cam to help the unrighteous

3. Repentance – a change of mind and actions

Conformity to the truth Luke 8:19-21

1. The approach –He calls for us to love Him by the setting of priorities especially involving spiritual relationships

2. The answer– Obedience is the mark of the Christian

The Christ of the truth Luke 9:18-22

1. The question – who is Jesus, the Christ

2. The confession – repentance of sin and acceptance of Christ
