Introduction: Saul eyed or “looked enviously” on David. We’re going to talk now about the greatest church splitter in the world, the greatest heart breaker, the greatest dream-breaker of all.
The monster—Jealousy “And Saul eyed David”
People were praising David for killing tens of thousands of the enemy, but claimed Saul only killed thousands. Saul was jealous.
Who wears better clothes than you? (Sings, teaches, lovelier, more talented)
Jealousy is the enemy of success
It hurled Joseph into the pit
Put a javelin in Saul’s hand to kill David
Parted Esau and Jacob
He lurks in the shadows ---subtle ---so beware
The monster causes gossip. Prov. 6:34 “Jealousy is the rage of many” Song of Solomon 8:6 “Jealousy is as cruel as the grave.”
The secret chamber Here the monster lives God showed Ezekial “…the chambers of his imagery”
You and I have a chamber ---the real you lives there ----no one else goes there
Your chamber will make you what you are. You will succeed in direct proportion to what dwells in that chamber
You are only as good as what happens in that chamber.
God made us to win over jealousy John 16:33 “I have overcome the world” How?
Each of us are tailor made for our particular jobs by God
The world is big enough for all of us
God did not make you to out sing, out run, out build, out dress someone else. He made you as you, to be you.
Conclusion: Whom are your eyes on? The Lords’ eyes are on you. He died for you. Look deep into your chamber. Do you see the portal of Hell or the peace of Heaven?
