Time: a Gift that Even God Doesn’t Have

Rev. 10:6 “….that there should be time no longer.”

Psalm 90:12 “Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Eph. 5:15 “See that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise.”

Introduction: One or the hardest things to define is time. We have a ‘good time’, it’s “time to go”. Time is nothing more than measurement of something passing or deteriorating. Time is important because God created our world on a schedule. Therefore, it is precious. It only happens once.

We are going to spend ‘time’ with each other for the next few minutes. Time it is the greatest gift we can give each other.

When someone gives you time, they are giving you their life, for time is life.

1. There is only so much time --- hence it is precious.

2. It is an investment, which is why I’m so particular about my time. How I invest my time on earth determines the quality of my eternity.

3. Note: Be on time, don’t waste life. If you are late for a person or twenty people, you have wasted 20 minutes of human life that can never be done over or regained.

When you give time, or receive it, it is a gift that can only be given by you or that person. No one else.

1. The moment I give can never be given again.

2. This should make us appreciate the moments we have together with each other and our family. NOTE: Time makes memories

3. The giving of time is a greater gift than heaven can give, for there is no time in heaven, just eternity

4. Time is an earthly gift

Time is a gift that God does not give. As far as God is concerned, there is no time.

1. God had no time to give --- He never dies. Moments do not subtract from God’s life

2. But when we fellowship, I am subtracting from my life and so are you.

3. This is why we should pay attention when someone speaks to us, they are giving us the gift of time.

Ecclesiastes 3 “To everything there is a season…….v.4 “ a time to weep, and a time to laugh……”

Know the value of a moment in time. Is it time to forgive, to forget, to help? Make your time a great gift to give someone.
