Do it God’s Way Or When We find Grace in the Eyes of the Lord

Genesis 6:5-8, Genesis 6: 13-21

Introduction: When we obey God we find grace in His eyes. Noah found grace through obedience. Noah’s name is mentioned 5 times in v. 8-10. Once would have been enough, but no, God calls him by name 5 times! Noah was an individual who obeyed God and as a result, he found grace and a wonderful thing happened to him.

God Made Noah a Man of His Counsel—God told Noah a secret. Gen. 6:13 “ And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

1. God shared His secret with Noah (Psalm 25.14

   1. God would destroy the world

   2. Noah had preached—they had not listened.

(Those that have good and use it for others will be blessed)

2. God would destroy the world with a flood

   1. God has many arrows in His quiver; he can use as he sees fit

   2. God was the judge, with the power and He would have the glory

3. God shared His covenant with Noah

   1. God would save Noah and his family

   2. Some in the family were not good, but God would save them for Noah’s’ sake

   3. Noah would be a trustee of the world

2. God made Noah a Monument of Mercy Genesis 6:14 “ Make thee an ark”

   
   

   1. God directs Noah

      1. The ark could only float…it had no rudder. Could only go where God directed it

   2. Noah would make it with his own sweat

      1. Diligence—there was a time limit

      2. Obedience—gopher wood---quality

   3. Use pitch

      1. A good sealant

      2. Good for odor

   4. Dimensions—it fitted God to decide the boundaries—so it is with our lives that he has given us.

   5. It wasn’t fancy but it was dry and it would float—be thankful

God made Noah a Blessing

1. He was a preacher to his generation—Christians are the salt of this earth

2. God made Noah a way of blessing for the inferior animals (we are to be a blessing to the world)

   1. Noah would provide food—the bible

   2. Noah would provide shelter—our examples

3. Noah would prepare for those that would live in his ship---so does Christ

Conclusion: I missed an opportunity to meet Tom T. Hall, my country singer favorite, because he was playing in a local bar and nightclub. I would not go in there. Six months later he played at a local county fair among families and people. Circumstances and chance, by God, led to me meeting him privately in his bus and have a great 15-minute talk. I maintained my witness and still got what I wanted even better than what I had planned.
